Brawn Family Foundation Bugtopia Playground: The Brawn Family Foundation Bugtopia playground will be closed on Friday, April 17th, and Monday April 20th through Tuesday, April 21st, to accommodate maintenance. Thank you for understanding.

ENMAX Conservatory: The ENMAX Conservatory will open at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20th, due to a private event. Thank you for your understanding.

Penguin Plunge: Last entry to Penguin Plunge will be at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, and Saturday, May 16th, to accommodate set up for our Wild After Hours: Penguins (18+) event. Thank you for your understanding.

Seasonal Closures

Gorilla Amphitheatre: The Gorilla Amphitheatre is closed for the season from October 15th, 2025. Our gorilla troop remains viewable in their indoor habitat.

Prehistoric Park: Prehistoric Park is closed for the season from October 27th, 2025, pending favourable weather conditions.

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her calf have daily access to the main indoor habitat from 10:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, especially when the calf is nursing, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026. Our peacocks and Dalmatian pelicans are currently spending time in their winter holding space.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

Between open skies and rolling grasses lies an ecosystem rich in cross-species interaction. Predators pressure prey, prey reshape the land, and the land responds in cycles that shape the species that call prairies home. If you love prairie wildlife, you won’t want to miss the latest edition of our guest-favourite outdoor game.

Solve puzzles, crack codes, and unlock the secrets of the prairies before time runs out. You’ll be challenged to use your wits, think creatively, and work with your team to solve an intricate series of puzzles that bring animal conservation to life.

New this year are food boxes included with your ticket, so you can fill your belly while your brain is at work! Choose between delicious Fish Tacos, a House Smoked Alberta Brisket Sandwich, or an Alberta Chickpea Curry for your meal.

Time: First timed ticket entry is from 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.; the last timed ticket entry is from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The game runs until 9:00 p.m.

Additional Booking Information

  • This is an adults-only experience (18+). Valid ID will be required to enter. Guests arriving for this experience with children/infants will not be admitted. No refunds will be provided.

  • The zoo remains open to the public until 6:00 p.m. (grounds will be cleared by 7:00 p.m.) as per normal operating hours.

  • This event is entirely accessible. If you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair, please contact Guest Relations at (403) 232-9300 at least 24 hours before the event. These services will not be open during the event without a pre-booking.

  • Parking  is $14 and is not included. Wild Journey and Wild Guardian members receive free parking when they have successfully registered with ParkPlus.

    PLEASE NOTE:

  • A cellphone required. You will need full charged phone per team with a data package. You will be completing tasks through your phone. Phone charging stations and WiFi are not available.
