North American Porcupine: Our female North American porcupine Nettles will not be viewable on Tuesday, October 27, to accommodate tree pruning around the habitat. Thank you for your understanding.

Avian Influenza Protocols

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed the presence of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) within 200 kilometres of the Wilder Institute’s Calgary Zoo.

The health and well-being of the animals in our care remains our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we’re proactively implementing the following measures to protect our avian species:

  • Footbaths have been installed at the entrances to The Larry Ruskin Penguin Plunge, the Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary, and the African Rainforest Aviary for all staff, volunteers, guests, and contractors entering these spaces.
  • Birds will continue to have outdoor access where appropriate and weather permitting.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to keep the animals we love safe.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Imagine Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

  • Ticket includes: Admission to the zoo, a full hot breakfast, red panda interpretive talk, and exclusive viewing of red pandas in Asian Highlands.

  • This is a family-friendly experience. Tickets for children 2 and under are free but require a ticket.

  • Please note that our menu items marked as GF are gluten-friendly as we are not a gluten-free facility.

  • Tickets are not sold onsite and must be purchased online in advance.

  • ParkPlus Parking at the zoo is $14. Wild Explorer, Wild Adventurer and Wild Guardian members receive free registered parking if they have successfully registered with ParkPlus.

  • This event will run rain or shine. Please be sure to dress accordingly for the occasion.

  • Guests that wish to be seated with other bookings must add the request in the note field when purchasing their tickets, and ensure both parties are booked for the same date.

  • Seating requests and ticket sales end at midnight two days prior to the event.
