Imagine Asia Grand Opening

Imagine Asia will have a delayed opening time on Wednesday, July 15. Members will have exclusive access from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. General public access begins at 1 p.m. We can’t wait to see you there!

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her female calf ‘Nyawa’ have daily access to either the main indoor habitat or the outdoor habitat from 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

Wildly fun Stampede breakfast!

This exclusive Stampede Breakfast is only open to Wildlife Guardians, Wild Journey Members and Wild Access Pass holders, but you’re welcome to bring friends to share the Stampede spirit (limit of 5 tickets total)! A $5 ticket includes a delicious breakfast of pancakes (GF option available), scrambled eggs, sausages, and fruit!

Join us for a wild Stampede breakfast as we celebrate the spirit of the Calgary Stampede right here at the zoo. This cherished tradition brings our community together and will be a boot-scootin' good time for the whole family. Fun lawn games, photo opportunities, and hot tea and coffee will be available all morning to make your experience even better! All proceeds from the tickets support the animals that call your zoo their home and our critical conservation efforts.

Schedule: There are three seating times available*. Please select the time of your choice when selecting tickets.

Booking Information

  • Ticket(s) do NOT include entrance to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo for non-members. To enter the zoo, please present a valid/active Membership Card at the access/entrance to be scanned, or purchase day admission for guests or non-active members.

  • You must be an active member to purchase Stampede Breakfast tickets.

  • Limited tickets available and MUST be pre-purchased. No walk-ups will be permitted on the day of the event.

  • You will be required to present your ticket at the Asia Lawn check-in to enter.

  • Only one (1) plate per ticket

  • Infants that will have their own plate will require a ticket (Child (0-2)).

Dress for the weather! The zoo is open year round with plenty of areas to explore both outdoors and indoors. Day admission, events, experiences happen rain, snow, or shine. Purchases/tickets are non-refundable. Explore Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo for more details.
