PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her female calf ‘Nyawa’ have daily access to either the main indoor habitat or the outdoor habitat from 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.
Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

Thank you for your interest in the Educators' Summit, taking place at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo August 10-13, 2026.
We invite current and future educators working in both formal and nonformal settings to attend this multi-day, field-based intensive summit designed to inspire connection to nature and build environmental literacy in education. This exciting, collaborative learning event offers funding for meals and accommodation and partially subsidized mileage/travel costs. Over the course of this 4-day summit, you will deep dive into current conservation efforts (including a behind the scenes peek at a current project), connect with subject-matter experts, co-create an environmental education resource to trial in your learning environment, and more! Together we will create a collaborative community of support integrating environmental literacy into your practice. The summit also includes a virtual follow-up event that allows you to share your experiences using the resources you developed. No experience in environmental education is necessary, just a passion for bringing environmental literacy into your educational setting.
Thank you for your interest in joining us. We anticipate receiving more applications than there are available spaces and appreciate the time and care you have put into applying. Applicants will receive notification of their status on June 30, including confirmed participation or placement on the waitlist. Please be sure to include an email address you will be checking over the summer, so you don’t miss important updates and next steps.
Dress for the weather! The zoo is open year-round with plenty of areas to explore both outdoors and indoors. Day admission, events, experiences happen rain, snow, or shine. Purchases/tickets are non-refundable. Explore Wilder Institute's Calgary Zoo for more details.
